Karthik, 29 years old has been diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer, in March 2022 with out any prior symptoms. Things have gone south and there is no improvement. He struggled through a lot of pain and has 4 tubes implanted in his body to drain several fluids. A few days ago, his doctors told the family members that there is nothing more they can do for him medically since his liver has been almost completely replaced by tumors. Currently, he is receiving hospice care (care for people nearing the end of their lives). 

 

 

   He recently married Sireesha in December 2021 and now lives with her in Tampa, Florida. He is originally from Vishakapatnam. The family is now planning to take him to India to spend his remaining days in peace and comfort with his family, and to try any other options as a last resort. He is a fighter and If you ask him, he would say he can travel like a normal person with some accommodations. But medically he cannot, he would need ambulatory travel and medical assistance which will cost around $300,000, which is a huge amount for the family right now. In hospital, he is on 5 liters of oxygen and they are not sure how much he would need up in the air.

 

The NATS Helpline team has been providing necessary assistance to the family and his friends over the past few days. In these challenging times, the family needs additional support from our community, so we are raising funds to send him to India.
